The scent of ethnic food wafting through the air, live entertainment and laughter filling the streets, as Clevelanders (and visitors alike) meander through an authentic open-air market. You’ll feel transported from the streets of Cleveland to one of the many Asian cities that host fabulous night markets around the world.
Enter Night Market Cleveland, the first of its kind to grace the streets of Cleveland. More specifically, the intersection of Rockwell and E. 21st street downtown. From 5 to 11 p.m. on the last Friday of each month throughout the summer, we have the opportunity to sample tasty treats, while shopping under the stars.
Based off of traditional Asian night markets, Night Market Cleveland satisfies a need we may not have even realized we had. While open air markets like The Flea get us out and about during the day, we have been missing an opportunity to get city dwellers out at night. Food carts will come right to you, outfitted by Ohio City Bike Co-Op.
The beauty of events like Night Market Cleveland are twofold. Not only do you get to experience a neighborhood that might not be your regular hangout spot, but you also get to sample food and visit boutique vendors that you might never have known existed. The exposure to the different cultures and culinary delights that our city has to offer is invaluable. Plus, events like this remind us that we are part of a larger community; a community that loves the city of Cleveland and wants to do all it can to promote what the city has to offer, with an ethnic twist.
So be transported to the famous night markets of Chiang Mai right in your own backyard, where people drift through the streets late into the night, while devouring ethnic food and enjoying the beat of live music under the stars.
