Holiday Festivities in Cleveland

As the snow swirled around Cleveland today, it was hard not to get caught up in the magic of the Christmas season. While a part of me yearns for Christmas of the past, there are new traditions just waiting to be created. Lucky for you, Cleveland offers a plethora of indoor and outdoor activities to get everyone into a festive mood. To help you get started, I’ve prepared a list of some of the places I recommend stopping for some holiday cheer. So bundle up and be prepared to enjoy all the holiday fun that Cleveland has to offer.

Christmas Vacation Camper Castle Noel, Medina

Calling all movie buffs and children at heart. Although slightly south of Cleveland, Castle Noel deserves a call out. Not only do they have the slide from A Christmas Story, but props from many other Christmas movie favorites. Advance reservations are recommended.

Cleveland Playhouse Festival of Trees, Playhouse Square District

If you’re looking for some traditional fun, check out the dozens of designer Christmas trees in the lobby of the Allen Theater, right in our own Playhouse Square District. If you want to make a night of it, grab tickets to A Christmas Story, the Nutcracker or Wicked!

Horseshoe CasinoHolidays at the Higbee & Horseshoe Casino, Downtown Cleveland

After a somewhat lackluster appearance in 2012, the Horseshoe Casino has really stepped it up this year with their holiday decor. Each window in the historic Higbee building has been transformed into a winter wonderland. Make sure to check out the decorations inside too!

The Rink at Wade Oval,  University Circle

Grab your ice skates (or rent theirs) and head over to Wade Oval for some outdoor ice skating! Great for families, winter dates and more!

A Christmas Story House

A Christmas Story House, Tremont

The Christmas Story House in Tremont is a must. Especially this year, as they celebrate their 30th anniversary of the film. Prepare to feel right at home as you dream of getting your own Range Model Air Rifle or simply bask in the glow of “electric sex” from the legendary leg lamp.
