December is arguably one of the best months of the year. Aside from the fact that it’s my birth month, December is an excuse to get together with friends and family, buy presents for ourselves and others, and to enjoy the celebrations throughout the city.
To kick off the month of December in style, there are a flurry of events going on all around town that I can’t wait to attend. It’s time to bundle up and embrace the holiday season. There is plenty of shopping, eating, drinking and perhaps getting a bit too jolly! Let’s check out what this weekend has in store for us, starting with two fabulous events tonight!
December 3: Ohio City Holiday Hop
Head out on the town tonight from 5 – 10 p.m. in Ohio City. Perhaps you’d like to pick out your Christmas tree in the square across from the West Side Market? Or take a complimentary yoga class with the stellar downtown views from Skylight Financial (pre-registration is required for that one). Lolly the Trolley will take you around Ohio City for free, as stores and restaurants offer sales and specials all night long.
December 3: Downtown Market at Twilight
Head to the corner of West 6th and St. Clair for pop-up holiday shops that include the Small Box stores and a dozen other vendors from 5 – 7 p.m. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. visit The Lawn with your dog for free pet photos with Santa. Can’t make it tonight? You’ll have another opportunity to check out these fabulous vendors on December 10th and 17th.
December 4: Santa Bar Blast
Head on over to Erie Street in downtown Willoughby for a jolly good time. This holiday pub crawl features stops at Willoughby Brewing Company, The 1899 Pub and more. The cost is only $10 and includes a Santa hat, souvenir shot glass, drink specials, prizes and light apps. Register early as the price doubles on December 4th.
December 5: A Christmas Story 5K/10K Run
Where else can you see countless deranged pink bunnies and human leg lamps running around, than at the 3rd Annual Christmas Story race? Starting at 9 a.m., this race kicks-off at Public Square and heads to the Christmas Story house. Get active and contribute to a great cause – the Christmas Story House Neighborhood Restoration project – which feeds back into the community where the Christmas Story House is located.
Head to Wade Oval this Sunday from 1-5:30 p.m. to view lantern displays inside the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Environment of Lights in Wade Oval. Have time to kill before the processional of lanterns starts at 5:30 p.m.? Head to the rink at Wade Oval where the Ohio City Singers will be performing all afternoon.
