Food trucks aren’t the only thing invading downtown Cleveland during the work week. Now we have access to shopping, coffee and live music through lunchtime events happening all week long, all summer long.
It’s time to stop making excuses for why we aren’t coming back downtown after work, and start taking advantage of Cleveland during lunch hour. Lucky enough to have the summer off? What a perfect excuse to get downtown during the daytime! Enjoy the benefits of the city, while still being able to go home to the ‘burbs at night.
So pull yourself out of your cube (or home) and get some good old fashioned sunshine all week!
Java and Jive at The Lawn, Tuesdays
Through September 1st, enjoy lunchtime acoustic music and free coffee at The Lawn, part of the Small Box shops at the corner of West 6th and St. Clair. Take advantage of a free book exchange and sweet treats for sale, while soaking up the sun in one of the lawn chairs provided or just mingle. Warehouse District, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
NineTwelve Shop Stop, Tuesdays
Looking to grab a bite to eat and get some retail therapy on your lunch hour? Hit up the mobile shops on Tuesdays at the corner of St. Clair and East 9th. Retailers like The Wandering Wardrobe and The Round About will be present. I’ve even spotted the Cleveland Animal Protective League at NineTwelve the last few weeks, so you can get your puppy fix for the afternoon! NineTwelve District, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Walnut Wednesday, Wednesdays
What started out as a handful of vendors a few years ago has exploded to include more than a dozen food trucks, live music and great ambiance at Perk Park. Haven’t checked it out yet? It is arguably the best lunchtime gathering in the city, and one of the largest too! NineTwelve District, 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Lunch by the Lake, Thursdays
If you’re looking for something a little more low-key, head to Voinovich Park each Thursday where five different food trucks will be present, along with gorgeous views of the water. Nothing like a cool breeze coming off the lake, while enjoying views of the city skyline. Voinovich Park, 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
Food Truck Fridays, Fridays
Each Friday at the corner of Lakeside and East 9th, you’ll find about ten food trucks lining the street, tables set up in the park and live music serenading you through lunch. Willard Park, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
