Looking for something to do on your lazy Sunday afternoon? Feeling like stepping outside of Cleveland for an hour or two and visiting a Parisian market? Maybe grab a crepe or wear a beret in the spirit of the theme. What am I talking about? That would be the Sunday Market in Hingetown (West 29th and Detroit), which is styled as a Parisian-style street festival. I think the Parisian part might be stretching it a bit, but it is still really cool.
I visited the Sunday Market last month, and spent about an hour walking around and taking pictures, eating and shopping. If you’ve ever been to the Cleveland Flea, the set-up is really similar. I noticed that many vendors also sell a lot of the same types of merchandise that you can find at The Flea. Hence, my note about it not being really Parisian in nature. I think I need more croissants and people saying wee wee, before I’m convinced.
Anyhow, the market offers you the opportunity to sample delicious food and to do a little shopping. In addition to the street festival, you can check out the shops and businesses in the Hingetown neighborhood. Visit Harness Cycle for a spinning class or some really cute cycling clothes. Maybe grab some tea at the Cleveland Tea Revival or fresh squeezed juice at Beet Jar Juice Bar. The Urban Orchid, an upscale flower shop, will also be open this weekend.
Can’t make it this weekend but still want to check it out? Don’t fret – you still have the following dates to visit the Sunday Market.
